NWA 14487 Eucrite Breccia Meteorites for Sale
Location: Northwest Africa, exact location unknown.
Found: Purchased in June of 2021
Classification: Eucrite breccia
Description: Breccia composed predominantly of angular mineral debris from eucrite lithologies accompanied by sparse microgabbroic and fine-grained lithic eucrite clasts in a fine grained matrix. The fine grained lithic eucrite clasts have intergranular textures but range in grainsize from ~100 µm to ~200 µm, and some are plagioclase-phyric. Minerals are exsolved pigeonite, calcic plagioclase, silica polymorph, ilmenite, baddeleyite, troilite and Ni-poor Fe metal. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene hosts (Fs65.2-65.9 Wo1.7-2.3, FeO/MnO = 32-34, N = 3), augite exsolution lamellae (Fs29.2-33.9 Wo42.1-38.6, FeO/MnO = 31-33, N = 4), plagioclase (An88.1-90.2 Or0.4-0.3, N = 4). Classification: Eucrite (breccia). Petrography and analysis by A. Irving.
