NWA 14760 LL(L)3 Chondrite Meteorites for Sale
Location: Sahara Desert, exact location unknown.
Purchased: March 2021.
Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL(L)3).
Description:Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, Brown U.) Well-delineated, closely packed unequilibrated chondrules (apparent diameter 1060±580 µm, N = 27) containing devitrified glass are set in a fine grained matrix containing stained kamacite, taenite, chromite, troilite and merrillite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa17.0±9.6, range Fa3.6.0-44.1, N = 13; Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.06±0.03 wt.%, N = 12), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs15.0±10.3Wo0.9±0.6, range Fs2.6-28.6Wo0.3-1.8, N = 6), subcalcic augite (Fs19.1Wo32.2). Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.48. Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL(L)3).
