Carver IIAB Iron Meteorites for Sale
Location: Macon County, Alabama, USA., 32°30'N., 85°30'W., approximately.
Found: 1930-1940.
Type: Iron. Variously described as a hexahedrite or ataxite, chemical class IIA. 5.5% Ni, 58.7 ppm Ga, 184 ppm Ge, 12 ppm
Description: Circumstances of find: On display as a meteorite (but unnamed) in the Carver Museum, Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, Alabama, USA. Apparently the specimen was brought to the Museum by a farmer from Macon County in the 1930's. Given the name Carver in 1969 (L. LaPaz, 1969). 9.4 kg in the Institute of Meteoritics, University of New Mexico.
