Meteorites--A Threat to Earth?

This page is under construction by Karl Twelker. Karl is 12 years old and is in the 6th grade.

When this page is complete it will be a resource for all who are interested in the possibility of a meteoroid slamming into the Earth and devastating our planet. This is a subject that concerns the United States government and astronomers. Scientists believe that a giant meteorite impact wiped out the dinosaurs. Could another impact wipe out humans? The Web has some good resources now. Check these out:

The Closest Object Ever is "Leaflet No. 3" from the Royal Greenwich Observatory. It has some basic facts about near-misses and possible impacts of meteoroids with the earth. The Impact Catastrophe That Ended The Mesozoic Era is a page introducing an electronic picture book of the huge meteorite that collided with the Earth and wiped out the dinosaurs. This is a well-done educational piece, but you need a Macintosh.
